Today we explored Distributed Tracing Span Attributes with OpenTelemetry — adding CMS-specific metadata like cms.content_id, cms.user_id, cms.template_name, cache hits/misses, and request context directly into traces for ultra-fast debugging at scale.
At 100M+ RPS, generic traces are useless. Rich span attributes give engineers X-ray vision into bottlenecks, slow templates, bad queries, and problematic content flows across distributed systems.
