If you like traveling at all, chances are you have a bucket list of places you'd like to go on vacation to! And somewhere on that list, if you haven't been already, are the Maldives.

My wife and I have been dreaming of going to the Maldives for quite a while. Looking through Instagram and watching travel videos on YouTube, its nearly impossible to avoid seeing content filmed in the Maldives, as its become a massively popular (and slightly more accessible) tourist destination in recent years. I suppose this constant stream of influencers had an effect on me as well, as I used to have some reservations about traveling to places like the Maldives. For one thing, lying around on a beach for days on end just isn't my idea of a great vacation, as I like to be more active - to explore and look for new experiences. Secondly, the Maldives seemed to be too over hyped and "fashionable", not to mention the fact that kid friendly travel and Maldives just didn't seem to go together. But nonetheless, the desire to see the tropical paradise that is the Maldives grew in me year after year, and this season, for our tenth wedding anniversary, we decided to bite the bullet and try to have a family friendly vacation in the Indian Ocean.

After a ton a research and watching too many reviews online, we decided that Kandima Resort was one of the best options for travelers with kids, for many reasons. It's a fairly new resort, the island itself is quite large (compared to other islands in the Maldives) which means that there's more to see and do, there is a Doctor/ Medical Center on the island, and the amenities that are necessary for a family all seemed to be in place at Kandima.

If any of you are reading this right now and are considering going to Kandima or the Maldives in general with kids - do it. I highly recommend Kandima especially, we had an absolute blast and only regret not having gone earlier and not having booked a longer stay. I can honestly say that we were overwhelmed with positive experiences at Kandima, and definitely plan on coming back in the future. Not only is it possible to enjoy yourself in the Maldives with little kids, but it can also be pretty much picture perfect too.

I initially had a lot of concerns about the flight and transfers, about dining options, about the various logistical and technical things that go along with vacationing with little kids, but everything just kind of fell into place at Kandima: Initially I wanted to review everything in this video, but it ended up being too long (and boring). So instead, I've decided to make a montage of our vacation, but I've also included brief tours of two types of rooms - the Beach Studio (which is just like the Sky Studio but on the ground level) and the best villa on the island - the Honeymoon Aqua Villa, which was luxurious and awesome in too many ways! Also in this video you'll find time lapses of the stars and hyperlapses across the island, 360 footage of the main guest areas, drone footage over Kandima and the surrounding area, video of the bike paths, and some underwater shots as well! I tried to keep things more or less chronological, so you'll also get to see Male international airport (we flew Moscow to Male), and then the domestic transfer flight within the Maldives.

I would be delighted to answer any of your questions about traveling to the Maldives with kids, so don't hesitate to get in touch - I'm always happy to reply, and I'm ready to share the good, the bad and the ugly :)
