South Shore Line - Final Day of Street Running, Part 4

On February 27th, 2022, my fiancé and I trekked up to Michigan City from near Indianapolis to capture the South Shore street running for the last day ever, after over 100 years. This was the only freight train we caught today, with 4 GP38-2’s in charge. The EMD workhorses sound great as they throttle up the hill from Cedar Street, and from a stop at a red traffic light. The engineer really treated us to some nice horn action with the lead locomotives Leslie RS5T. Here, we see the train at the site of the former 11th Street station.
