Analyst says local government inquiry report a witch-hunt to go after Talib ahead of the election.

Tuesday’s edition of “Civic Engagement” on AG Radio featured political commentator Bun Dawda discussing the Commission of Inquiry into Local Government Councils and the growing concern over tribal politics in The Gambia.

Earlier on Tuesday, President Adama Barrow officially received the report of the Commission of Inquiry into Local Government Councils at the State House, bringing to an end a three-year investigation into the management and operations of local councils nationwide.

Reacting to the development, Bun Dawda argued that the inquiry appears to be largely focused on the mayor of the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC), Talib Bensouda. According to him, the government views Bensouda as a major political threat, which he believes explains the establishment of the commission and its intention to weaken Talib's political influence.
