Settings for Android users (names vary by version):
Setting 1 -
Settings → Security & privacy (or Privacy) → Location → App permissions.
Open each social app → change to Allow only while using the app or Ask every time; toggle Precise location OFF if present.
Bonus: Camera app settings → disable “Save location” for photos. In-app tip:
Snapchat: Profile → ⚙ Settings → Privacy Controls → See My Location → enable Ghost Mode or limit to selected friends.
Setting 2 -
Settings → Privacy → Permission manager → Contacts → remove access for social apps that don’t need it. In-app (delete previously uploaded contacts too):
Instagram: Profile → ☰ → Settings and privacy → How others can interact with you → Contacts syncing → OFF. Then “Manage contacts” → Delete all.
Facebook: Menu → Settings & privacy → Settings → Permissions → Upload contacts → OFF. Then “Manage contacts” → Delete all (if available).
TikTok: Profile → ☰ → Settings and privacy → Privacy → Sync contacts → OFF. Tap “Remove previously synced”.
Snapchat: Profile → ⚙ → Privacy Controls → Contacts Syncing → OFF → Delete All Contacts Data.
X (Twitter): Profile → Settings and privacy → Privacy and safety → Discoverability and contacts → Sync address book contacts → OFF → Remove all contacts.
Setting 3 -
Settings → Privacy → Permission manager → Microphone/Camera → set to Allow only while using or Ask every time.
Quick switches (Android 12+): Swipe down → disable Mic and Camera from Quick Settings when you want extra privacy.

Settings → Google → Ads → Delete advertising ID (or Opt out of Ads Personalization).
Google Account → Data & privacy → Ad settings → Ad personalisation → OFF or customize. In-app (major platforms):
Facebook/Instagram: Menu → Settings & privacy → Settings → Ads. Turn OFF “Ads based on data from partners,” limit “Categories used to reach you,” and review “Off-Facebook Activity” → Clear history and “Disconnect future activity.”
X (Twitter): Settings and privacy → Privacy and safety → Ads preferences/Personalization and data → toggle OFF “Personalized ads,” “Inferred identity,” and other tracking toggles.
LinkedIn: Settings → Data privacy → Advertising data → turn off ad personalization options and partner data.
TikTok: Settings and privacy → Privacy → Ads → disable personalized ads based on off‑TikTok activity (where available).
