Preview: Driving an Atari 2600 with a Modern Keyboard #shorts

Here is a brief preview of a project I am working on! I have an Arduino hooked up to the joystick ports of an Atari 2600 and capturing the keyboard controller (a.k.a. kids controller, video touch pad) scanning events. It is producing some telemetry that gives us some insight into the scanning techniques used by the cartridge developers!

Next, the Arduino will capture signals from a proper modern keyboard and respond appropriately to the cartridge's controller scanning events. Thus, we'll be able to drive an Atari 2600 from modern keyboard and replace the archaic interface of another keyboard controller cartridge that I recently covered.
