How to Read Poetry in the Bible

Hebrew poetry is based on parallelism, which says the same thing twice, but in two different ways.

The LORD is my shepherd
I shall not want
Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life.
I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Roughly 20% of the Old Testament is written in parallelism. Start looking for it and see if you can identify the repetition!
