Geode State Park

Cab and I wandered along the shoreline trail at Goede State Park, the lake stretching out beside us in that calm, glassy way that makes every step feel unhurried. Partway down the path, a bald eagle dropped out of the sky like a thrown spear, hitting the water so hard it sent ripples rolling toward us. We followed the trail to the campgrounds, where we found what might honestly be the nicest state‑park bathrooms either of us has ever seen. From there we walked up to the lake’s source, then followed the quiet park road, Cab trotting ahead with that proud little bounce he gets when he knows it’s been a good day.
