3 Techniques to Climb Past V4 (part 2)!

Here are three more essential techniques to master if you want to climb more efficiently and break into higher grades!

1️⃣ Drop Knee
A crucial skill to add to your growing repertoire, the drop knee helps keep your movements efficient and shifts reliance to your lower body, saving energy for your upper body. Practice drop knees on easier terrain, focusing on dropping your knee, keeping your hips close to the wall, and twisting your body to reach the next hold.

2️⃣ Pogo
While not always necessary and less common outdoors, this technique can boost momentum for dynamic moves. Use the leg matching your destination (e.g., left leg for jumping left), generate momentum by swinging your leg towards the finish hold, and pull up with your arms simultaneously.

3️⃣ Scorpion Kick
Control swings on dynos by kicking your legs up and behind you, then smoothly bringing your feet back to the wall. This avoids flailing and minimizes energy loss, leaving you with plenty in the tank for the next moves.
