This House Uses Color to Break the Rules

At first, this house looks like a warm brick volume, then one yellow box changes everything.

The Yellow Box, by Aslam Sham Architects, is built on a compact urban lot in Calicut, India.

Its façade combines a diagonal brick screen with a bold yellow metal volume that breaks the weight of the terracotta surface. But this is not only a visual move - the brick screen filters light, privacy, and ventilation from the street, the yellow box marks the staircase and inside, the house uses fewer internal divisions to create a more open and fluid family space.

A compact urban house where brick, color, privacy, and circulation work together to create a strong identity.
