Jagannath Panda - An Indian contemporary artist born in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, has been giving food for thought through his artworks to the debaters who support urbanisation or despise it, for the past two and half decades.
He acquired his education from BK College of Art and Crafts in Bhubaneswar, and The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. After completing his Masters, he became a research fellow at Fukuoka University of Education, Japan in 1997, and then studied fine sculpture from the Royal College of Art, London in 2002.
Panda’s exploring of the grey area of development and growth and tracing the dreams and aspirations of people, while using a myriad of art forms and techniques has made his paintings and installations timelessly relevant. Not just this, his work beyond the atelier is also making a great impact. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
