Flying Disasters: 3 of WWII’s Most Dangerous Aircraft Designs

The annals of World War II aviation history are filled with aircraft that soared to legendary status: we all know the P-51 Mustang, Messerschmitt 109, Supermarine Spitfire, F6F Hellcat, IL-2 Sturmovik - the list goes on and on. But for every outstanding warbird - there were one or two duds, some that failed at the testing stage and others that unfortunately made it to frontline units. Today we’ll look at a handful - the SB2C Helldiver, the American dive-bomber that often made its pilots and designers question their life choices, the Messerschmitt Me-210, the German heavy fighter that didn’t like to fly in a straight line and the Breda Ba.88, the Italian thoroughbred that performed in combat more like it was inbred.
