5 Tips for Freehand Insect Macro Photography

I give you my five best tips for doing freehand macro photography of insects.

All photos in this video were shot with this camera: https://amzn.to/2MguZEt and I used this home built lens and flash setup: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PW-44IKD8l0

If you don't want to build your own super macro lens, I recommend this one (great value for money): https://amzn.to/2ttUtXj

You could also get this one, which has a longer magnification range, but is heavier and more expensive: https://amzn.to/2MSOtQO

I am also considering buying this new super macro lens from Laowa, which looks promising: https://amzn.to/2Kg1AK9

If you are a beginner, I recommend you to buy a regular 90mm or 100mm macro lens from one of the large lens manufacturers. These lenses are all sharp, and great value for money, and they are good to begin with to learn basic macro photography. Some examples that I recommend:

For Canon EF mount: https://amzn.to/2Khoscl
For Nikon: https://amzn.to/2yAsCKG
For Sony FE: https://amzn.to/2yDr5DG
For Micro Four Thirds: https://amzn.to/2MkG1c3
This video was recorded with this small action video camera: https://amzn.to/2MOnVjw
