Las Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Brayden McNabb was rushed to the hospital in Raleigh on Thursday

Las Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Brayden McNabb was rushed to the hospital in Raleigh on Thursday after taking a slap shot to the face during the Carolina Hurricanes' overtime win in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals. McNabb was struck on an 87mph shot by Carolina's Nikolaj Ehlers midway through the first period. Although McNabb does wear a visor, the puck managed to sneak underneath his transparent shield, where it struck him in the forehead. The 6ft 4in veteran promptly fell to the ice before quickly scurrying to the bench while holding his nose. The team later revealed he was taken to the hospital. Coach John Tortorella did not have any update on McNabb's condition after the game. McNabb was missed as the Golden Knights surrendered a 2-0 lead in the third period en route to a 4-3 overtime loss.
