A glimpse of Gran Canaria. I travel to Gran Canaria and visit the vast sand dunes of Maspalomas and the gardens of Lopesan Costa Meloneras to catch a glimpse of the plant and wildlife. Gran Canaria is one of the Canary Isles lying off the west coast of Africa - nearer to the Sahara than to London - and enjoying year-round temperatures in the mid 20s.
