MS SQL Server Performance Tuning Tempdb Spills

The temporary database behaves like a page file for Microsoft SQL server. Considering the database resides on the disk it is considered undesirable to have temporary database spills. In this video we demonstrate the scenarios under which SQL server might perform temp database spills. Read and move on to explore why this happened and what possible solutions could be implemented to resolve such an issue. Most commonly temp database spills occur because of incorrect memory sizing which in turn is often a result of stale statistics. We also explore the impact incorrect indexing might have on query execution plans and memory sizing as a result.
