IcedID Variant Found In Spam Flood | Cyber Protection Operation Center News

At least two new spam campaigns have been spotted spreading new IcedID trojan variants.
Researchers have noted that some targets are seeing spikes where they are seeing over 100 detections a day.
The newest variants use a technique that hides shellcode inside a .PNG image. From there, IcedID beings exfiltrating data to a C2 and downloads additional payloads.

IcedID is filling a void Emotet has left and will continue to escalate in volume and tactics.
