We have some exciting news! One of the most popular immigration programs in the world is finally back. Malaysia is reopening its MM2H program, and they've introduced some new rules that many don't like.
Interested in moving to Malaysia? Well, here is everything you need to know about the new MM2H (Malaysia my second home) program.
So what are the changes to the MM2H program?
First of all, they've decided to target higher-income individuals, so they've increased the amount that you need to put (and keep the entire time) in a Malaysian bank account in their currency. The amount that you need to tie down is around 250 000 USD.
Secondly, they now require a minimum income of around 10 000 USD per month, which is 4 times more than it used to be!
Thirdly, they've introduced minimum stay requirements which are now 90 days per year!
Besides this, they've introduced fees of around 5000 rm for the processing of the application. You also need to prove liquid assets of 1,5 million rm which is approximately 375 000 USD.
And possibly the worst change is that you can NOT apply for this program if you're under the age of 35!
If you're renewing your MM2H you will need to renew it under the new conditions, if you can't meet the new criteria your visa will not be extended under this program.
Also, it's important to keep in mind that even if you fulfill all the requirements this program DOES NOT lead to permanent residency or citizenship.
