On the edge of Australia’s Western Desert, the sandalwood trees, revered by the local population for centuries, bake beneath a punishing sun.
When they develop their scented oil, they are cut into chips, which make their way across the world to Oman, where their transformative power will infuse the perfume concentrate.
It's a process that requires time – but by their very nature, these slivers of wood are patient.
