Drake Steals Beat?! 1900 Rugrat EXPOSES Drake on IG!

The situation between 1900Rugrat and Drake regarding the song "Little Birdie" has become a notable point of contention following the release of Drake's album Iceman in May 2026.

The Core Allegation
In mid-May 2026, Florida rapper 1900Rugrat publicly accused Drake of "ripping off" a beat he produced for the intro to his 2025 debut album, Porch 2 The Pent. Rugrat posted an Instagram video—and later shared alleged direct messages—claiming that:

Prior Contact: Drake had reached out to him previously to potentially work together. During those interactions, Rugrat sent over tracks, and the intro beat from his debut album was one that Drake allegedly "took a liking to."

The Refusal: Rugrat stated that he declined to let Drake use the beat because it was his first-ever production and held significant personal value to him.

The Accusation: Rugrat claims that despite his refusal, Drake used a version of that beat (or a very similar one) for the track "Little Birdie" on Iceman. He expressed frustration, stating, "Don't rip my s**t and repitch it like that, fam."

The "Receipts"
Rugrat shared screenshots of his alleged DMs with Drake to support his claim. In the messages, Drake reportedly wrote:
"Hopefully we can get one for the album. I talked to Gordo he told me the other s**t was the intro."

"I was hype off that s**t but I know that feeling when you already done."
Drake then seemingly backed off, saying, "So we'll cook up if anything."
Rugrat had responded to those messages at the time by expressing gratitude for Drake's understanding, noting that the song was "special" to him.

Public & Industry Reaction
Debate: The controversy has sparked a divide online. Some fans and commenters argue that the beats sound similar enough to suggest an unethical appropriation of Rugrat's work, especially given the context of their previous communication. Others are more skeptical, questioning whether the similarities are strong enough to warrant such a public accusation or if they are simply a result of similar production trends.
Drake's Response: As of late May 2026, neither Drake nor his OVO team has issued a formal public response to the accusation.
The Production Credit: "Little Birdie" is officially credited to producers 40, DJ Frisco954, and RL.

This incident has fueled ongoing discussions about power dynamics in the music industry—specifically whether established superstars like Drake are held to different standards regarding "inspiration" versus "theft" when dealing with up-and-coming artists who may feel they have little recourse against a more powerful entity.
