Faces of Africa: Wheels of Change Against Cervical Cancer

Every single day, 40 courageous female motorbike riders—known locally as the "Boda Girls"—traverse rural roads to reach mothers, sisters, and daughters with vital health information. Launched four years ago by the Matibabu Foundation Hospital, this grassroots initiative is proving that mobile health advocacy can prevent entirely avoidable tragedies.

Among these trailblazers is Josephine Awuor. Josephine’s own mother tragically lost her battle to cervical cancer in 2025. Today, that heartbreaking loss has become her deepest motivation to ensure no other family in Kenya suffers the same fate. This is the story of ordinary women riding extraordinary distances to defeat cervical cancer.
