Beavers released at Boothby Wildland

On 24 February 2026, our delighted team welcomed a family of beavers to Boothby Wildland in Lincolnshire.

Working with @beavertrust we’ve released our new ecosystem engineers into a 200ha enclosure designed to help natural processes return to the wildland.

As the beavers build dams, create wetlands and slow water flow, they’ll create new habitats and boost biodiversity.

Along with our recent work to re-wiggle the West Glen river (after years of being straightened and deepened to remove water from the land), the beavers will help us retain water on the wildland and mitigate downstream flooding.

This project has taken years of preparation - from habitat assessments and baseline monitoring - to installing 6,000m of bespoke fencing. All supported by our on site team, Beaver Trust specialists, and our brilliant local community volunteers.
