LOST LINERS: Peril on the Sea (1912 - 2012)

Few things capture the imagination like the demise of a great ship. They are symbols of man's strength and ingenuity. Countless hours of design and labour contribute to their construction. To see them disappear into the sea is a potent reminder of man's weakness and the dangers of excessive pride. It is also important to remember that these Lost Liners are tragedies. It is natural to see vessels like the Lusitania, Titanic, Britannic, and Andrea Doria on the ocean floor and bemoan the loss of such beautiful pieces of marine architecture. They are ghostly palaces forgotten and forlorn beneath the sea. Despite those natural feelings, their true cost is measured not in dollars, pounds, or euros -- but in human lives.

P.S.

I'm somewhat surprised this had become my most popular video. It's quite simple, somber, and sad. Those things usually don't resonate well on Youtube/Social Media. It's primarily inspired by the book "Lost Liners" that my parents bought for me in 1998. If you're reading this, I appreciate you and your fascination with these vessels. Just remember real people, the same as you and I, saw their dreams of life ended upon their decks.

And if you're someone whose art is featured in this video, I'm not making money since the Titanic soundtrack is copyright claimed. At the time I was making this primarily for myself and didn't consider the consequences of "borrowing" other's original content.
