A Grenade Drops in Training — Only One Scrawny Kid Dives on It

A bunch of new recruits are training in the yard. Colonel Phillips watches from above. He signals a soldier to toss a grenade into the group. Everyone panics and runs for cover, diving behind anything they can find. Except one scrawny kid from Brooklyn — Steve. He doesn't hesitate. He jumps on top of the grenade, curls his body over it, and yells, "Get away!"
Seconds pass. No explosion. Phillips walks over and tells him it was a dud. Just a test. The other recruits look down, embarrassed. Dr. Erskine stands off to the side, nodding with approval. He calls Steve over and asks why he did it. Steve says, "If it had been real, those guys wouldn't have had time to run."
Erskine turns to Phillips and says strength can be built later, but courage and a good heart are born right there. He announces Steve is the one. Everyone who laughed at him before goes quiet. That smaller body? It's got the biggest heart in the room.
