INVESTING IN WATCHES...THE TRUTH! Rolex, AP, Patek Philippe...
Some people believe that luxury watches are not investments at all! We try to dispel that myth on this video by providing different examples of models from the top 3 high end watch brands (see below).
At the beginning of the video, Danny Kassab shares his recent story about a client from Singapore that inquired about a good timepiece for investment purposes. The watch Danny recommended was a 39mm AP Royal Oak reference 15300ST. Here's the story: - 00:09
Brand #1: Rolex
- 01:44 Submariner Hulk (Ref 116610LV, Retail $9,350) - Recommendation: buy at retail if possible, not right away due to the excessive speculation in the market.
- 02:46 GMT Master II AKA Rolex Batman (Ref 116710BLNR, Retail $9,500) - Discontinued model in 2018-2019. Worthwhile investment as they're no longer being produced.
- 03:53 Daytona Ceramic (Ref 116500LN, Retail $13,150) - Recommendation: buy at retail if possible, not right away due to the excessive demand in the market. Highly recommend acquiring the previous version of the Rolex Daytona 116520 (steel bezel). If possible buy the model with the Zenith movement pre-2000.
- 05:16 Sky-Dweller Blue Dial (Ref 326934, Retail $14,800) - Recommendation: buy at retail if possible, not right away due to the excessive demand in the market.
- 06:16 Rose Gold Daytona (Ref 116505, Retail $39,350) - Gold pieces are going up in value due to excessive premiums in stainless pieces. Decent investment if bought at a good price from a gray market dealer (DO NOT BUY FOR FULL RETAIL!).
Brand #2: Audemars Piguet
- 08:41 Two-tone AP Royal Oak (Ref 15450SR, Retail $23,800) - Discontinued model. The brand has a longer history than Rolex. Royal Oak is one of the most iconic models. Continues same upward trend in price. Worthy investment if you can find one for the right price.
Brand #3: Patek Philippe
- 10:26 Nautilus Ref 5712R, Retail $45,250 - Been around since 1839. The final tier when it comes to watch collecting. Sporty, lightweight with a clean design and open case back. Engineering ahead of its time. Prices are stable and usually moving upwards.
