When I started building algo trading strategies 20 some years ago, I made a ton of mistakes. I really did not know what I was doing!

I remember hearing about a father/son duo who created strategy testing computers that “rivaled NASA mission control.” I was in awe of that!

Back then, I thought if I applied intensive computer power to my strategy development, I’d somehow, someway uncover the Holy Grail to successful trading.

Guess what? That did not happen. In those early days, on pretty much a daily basis the market was telling me I was WRONG.

So, I learned, I struggled, learned some more and eventually started to get a lot better at trading in general, and algo trading specifically.

Even now, every day I try to get even better.

This short video shows 3 big mistakes I used to make. Hopefully by learning from my mistakes you will become a better trader!

And that father/son combo? I later found out that their trading scheme never turned a profit, except in backtest. 
