Welcome back to another tech repair video. In today’s episode, we’re replacing the battery on a MacBook Pro 13-inch (Model A1708). We’ll share tips, tricks, and troubleshooting. Links to tools and parts are in the description.

00:29 – Opening the Device
Flip the unit over and remove the pentalobe screws. Use a suction cup to remove the bottom case.

00:50 – Signs of Prior Repair
This unit has been worked on before. Bent heatsink, missing grommets, removed SSD tape, replaced logic board, and a missing battery daughterboard cover are all indicators.

01:55 – Battery Condition & Game Plan
Battery is OEM but swollen. Several screws are missing. We’ll restore what we can and proceed with the battery replacement.

02:26 – Battery Disconnection
Disconnect the battery and remove the management unit Flex cable. Use a T5 to disconnect the jumper cable, then unplug the trackpad and remove the battery board screws.

03:10 – Adhesive Removal
Apply isopropyl alcohol around the battery to weaken adhesive. Use a plastic spudger to pry out the battery, then scrape off leftover adhesive.

04:20 – Installing the New Battery
Install the new battery, secure it with the correct screws, and peel off adhesive coverings.

05:04 – Screw Restoration
Go around the board and replace or tighten any incorrect or missing screws. Reconnect the trackpad and retention bracket.

07:00 – Testing the Battery
Plug in the charger and test. Battery charges properly, system boots, and cycle count shows zero.

07:40 – Closing the Device
Seal the unit by reinstalling the bottom case and securing it with the correct pentalobe screws.
