C.J.Lim - Smart-Cities

A very modern assumption of our culture states that faster is always better. The rapidly expanding middle class in Asia is enjoying many of the pleasures of a consumer society, but is increasingly becoming affected by the expectations and pressures of this modern life. 'Smart-city' is a new blueprint for an urban typology that goes beyond the definition of eco-city. A smart city integrates environmental, and most importantly, social sustainability into the heart of the city, for its long-term future.

CJ Lim is the founder of Studio 8 Architects Ltd. He employs narratives in creating innovative architecture, landscape and urban design focusing on interpretations of cultural and social sustainable programmes. His celebrated 'Virtually Venice', a cultural assemblage, investigated East-West cultures and identities.

CJ Lim is also Professor of Architecture and Cultural Design at the Bartlett, University College London.
