2 Boats vs. 1,000 Men: The Most Decorated Sailor in US Navy History

On October 31, 1966, James Williams was commanding a pair of PBRs (Patrol Boat, River) when they stumbled into a massive North Vietnamese staging area. Instead of retreating, Williams did the unthinkable: he charged. For three hours, under the cover of darkness and with the help of air support he called in, Williams navigated his tiny boats through a gauntlet of over 1,000 enemy soldiers and dozens of junks. By the end of the night, his small crew had destroyed over 50 vessels and neutralized a major enemy force. This is the story of the "River Rat" who earned the Medal of Honor.
