He carried her ashes in his cane for 13 years

In 1963, Charles Bronson met Jill Ireland on set and told his co-stars: "I'm going to marry that woman." She was already married. He waited. In 1968, she divorced — and chose him. For twenty years, they were inseparable, starring in fifteen films together. Then in 1984, Jill was diagnosed with breast cancer. She fought for six years. She wrote two books. Charles never left her side. She died in 1990, at home in Malibu, with him beside her. He had her ashes sealed inside a hollow cane. He carried it every day for thirteen years. When he died in 2003, it was buried with him. Some men carry love differently.
