Train Driver's View: Oslo to Kongsberg Cabview, Norway

Take a cab ride with a train drivers point of view from Oslo to Kongsberg, Norway. A minute by minute cabview/führerstandsmitfahrt, with audio from the cabin.

Hello and welcome back on board Thors Trains! Today we are taking the increadibly beautiful train ride from Oslo to Kongsberg, and then back again to Drammen. We start by driving on the Drammen Line to Lysaker and from there on the Asker Line to Drammen. From Drammen we keep going along the Sørlandet Line (Southern Line), which is also shared with the trains to Bergen. In Hokksund these two lines split, the Bergen Line heading off north to Hønefoss, and the Southern Line continuing south towards Kongsberg, Kristiansand and eventually Stavanger.

Over in Kongsberg we move to the other end and have a nice break before driving back to Drammen. For me I there had another break before driving to Lillehammer and back to Oslo to end the day.

For this video I've included a minute or two to showing the ATC, the Automatic Train Control. I was planning to have a bit more content, but I didn't have too much usable video so I instead made it a short clip instead. If you like it and want more then please let me know in the comments and I will go out and shoot some more footage for my next video!

This was also my last video shot on my GoPro Hero 8 with the included mics. I've since upgraded to the GoPro Hero 9 with an external microphone. If I can get some more videos shot with that you should start to see some improvements soon. But I also have several videos in the backlog from the GoPro Hero 8, so it could be a bit of a mix going forward.

When we are nearing Kongsberg the windshield wiper started making some really horrible screeching noises. I tried to limit how often it ran, but I can't sacrifice visibility so unfortunatly you just have to stick with it like I had :-( I tried to dampen the sound in editing, but that just made it worse. I have since added it to my never ending list of Things To Learn so that I can make even better videos.
