Chasing PW0F on 30 metres - a good night's hunting

Anthony EI2KC spends some time chasing down PW0F Fernando de Noronha on 30 metres CW using his home-brew Morse key. This is tough going - the DX station is working North America, Asia and Europe, but EI2KC can hardly hear any of them. Where should he call? What is the split? Does he eventually get into the log, just in the nick of time?
