🚧 Major Milestone: M6 Motorway South Viaducts – HS2 🚧

ABM Precast is proud to have supplied the deck slabs for the M6 Motorway South Viaduct East & West Deck, delivered by Balfour Beatty Vinci JV for HS2.

Project highlights:
✓ The 320m-long twin viaducts are being constructed beside the M6, ready to be slid into place during weekend closures to keep disruption to a minimum.
✓ Each section is launched using strand jacks at 6–8m per hour, with the deck’s weight increasing from 1,300 to 3,000 tonnes as the build progresses.
✓ The first 119m launch is set for the weekend of 7/8 June, with further launches to follow.
✓ Specialist steelwork contractor Victor Buyck and National Highways are supporting this complex operation.
✓ The viaducts use a double-box weathering steel design, supported by four pairs of concrete piers, some up to 9.9m high. A 4.5m parapet will reduce train noise for local communities.

As Russell Luckhurst, Project Director at Balfour Beatty Vinci, said:
