A Bat Cave Full of Food Specialists
A single cave in the American tropics can be home to hundreds or thousands or millions of bats of many different species. Within a cave one can find bats that feed mostly on insects, fruit, blood, meat, pollen, or nectar. The diversity of bat feeding niches is astounding.
