Amsterdam Spring break in Spain: Exploring with our kids is the #1 reason we moved to Amsterdam
One of the biggest reasons we moved to Amsterdam was to be able to travel to all of the nearby places. With Covid that's looked really different and we've definitely had to reset expectations. My wife is vaccinated, there are strict protocols around getting tested before we leave NL and again before we re-enter, we also skip daily hotel housekeeping and only dine outdoors - together that helps us travel safer right now.
While driving on the curvy mountain roads to Mijas, we saw an old castle/estate on a hill and took a short hike to explore it. It was relatively modern construction that was probably never completed, but the views and graffiti inside were totally worth the visit. Castillo de la Mota, just outside Mijas, Spain if you want to check it out. Then into Mijas and we basically had the entire town to ourselves to explore aside from a few locals roaming the super charming streets. My only regret was failing to film any clips inside the Exposición Artesanía de España, a traditional ceramics shop that hosts pieces from local artists. Aside from the overwhelming selection and beautiful colors, the woman who helped us was so friendly and even gifted the girls with a souvenir. This was the day that formed our warmest regards for Spain.
