Rockwell Somebody's Watching Me on HQ Vinyl with Lyrics in Description

Track 1 from his debut album "Somebody's Watching Me" released in 1984 copyright Motown Records. It was recorded at Mars Recording Studios in Los Angeles and was produced by Curtis Anthony Nolen. "Rockwell" is the stage name of Kennedy William Gordy, the son of Berry Gordy, who is the founder of Motown Records. Not wanting to be seen as benefiting from nepotism, he decided to use a stage name and secured his recording contract without his father's help. Instead, his mother Raynoma "Ray" Singleton, who he was living with heard him practicing what would become the title song of this album and thought it was promising. She contacted Curtis Anthony Nolen, a staff producer at Motown, who agreed and signed him to a contract for this album. During the recording sessions he approached his childhood friend Michael Jackson and asked him to contribute vocals to the chorus of the title track. Jermaine Jackson also appears on background vocals. When the finished song was played for Berry Gordy he thought the vocalist in the chorus sounded familiar but couldn't quite place the singer. When he was told it was Michael Jackson he was excited and eager to release it as a single. The single reached No. 6 in the U.K. and No. 2 in the U.S. and Canada. I appreciate the fact that a lot of his songs reflect his sense of humour. He obviously doesn't take himself too seriously, which is refreshing. He released two more albums with Motown but none were as successful as this one. It reached No. 38 in Germany, No. 26 in Sweden, No. 20 in Switzerland, No. 15 in the U.S. and No. 12 in Australia. It was certified Gold in the U.S. Written by Norman Dozier, Curtis Anthony Nolen & Rockwell and produced by Curtis Anthony Nolen. RIP Michael Jackson & Ricky Lawson. Featuring:

(Who's watching?)
(Tell me, who's watching?)
(Who's watching me?)

I'm just an average man with an average life
I work from nine to five, hey, Hell, I pay the price
All I want is to be left alone in my average home
But why do I always feel like I'm in The Twilight Zone? And

I always feel like somebody's watchin' me
And I have no privacy (oh-oh-oh)
I always feel like somebody's watchin' me
Tell me, is it just a dream?

When I come home at night
I bolt the door real tight
People call me on the phone, I'm trying to avoid
But can the people on TV see me, or am I just paranoid?

When I'm in the shower I'm afraid to wash my hair
'Cause I might open my eyes and find someone standing there
People say I'm crazy, just a little touched
But maybe showers remind me of Psycho too much, that's why

I always feel like somebody's watchin' me
And I have no privacy (oh-oh-oh)
I always feel like somebody's watchin' me
Who's playin' tricks on me?

(Who's watching me?) I don't know anymore
Are the neighbors watching me? (who's watching?)
Well, is the mailman watching me? (tell me who's watching?)
And I don't feel safe anymore, oh, what a mess
I wonder who's watching me now (who) the IRS?

I always feel like somebody's watchin' me
And I have no privacy (oh-oh-oh)
I always feel like somebody's watchin' me
Tell me, is it just a dream?

I always feel like somebody's watchin' me, hee-hee-hee
And I have no privacy (oh-oh-oh-oh)
I always feel like somebody's watchin' me
Who's playin' tricks on me?

Oh-oh-oh
(Who's watchin' me?)
I always feel like somebody's watchin' me, ooh, now, ah, ooh
I always feel like somebody's watchin' me
(Who's watchin' me?)
I always feel like somebody's watchin' me, ooh, now, ah, ooh
I always feel like somebody's watchin' me
(Who's watching me?)

I always feel like somebody's watchin' me
And I have no privacy (oh-oh-oh-oh)
I always feel like somebody's watchin' me
I can't enjoy my tea (who's watching me?)
I always feel like somebody's watchin' me
Can I have my privacy? (oh-oh-oh)
I always feel like somebody's watchin' me
Who's watching me? (who's watching me?)
I always feel like somebody's watchin' me, hee-hee (oh-oh-oh-oh)
I always feel like somebody's watchin' me
Stop playing tricks on me, yeah (who's watching me?)
I always feel like somebody's watchin' me...
