Today we are looking at some rhythm skills. A lot of people think of a chord as a shape they play, but it isn't, it is a collection of notes. Now, that might seem like the same thing, but when you stop looking at D7 as shape, and start looking at it as a D note, F# note, A note and a C note, then you can unleash some serious creativity. One of the things that I really like to do is for example is the use of octaves. I use octaves as a base as you'll see because this tutorial also incorporates the use of the b7th interval, a triplet with the 4th, b5th and 5th as well, but the base is the octave, that is the foundation and you can have a lot of fun using them, so let's explore them right now in a 12 bar blues context in D!
