10 Harry Potter Actors Who Sound Nothing Like Their Characters

Harry Potter is filled with also sorts of mysterious and magical characters so it’s no wonder it takes a little more work than your average film to craft a voice for the characters. Sure, the cast of kids were all off the hook, being so young and all, so it was left to the adult actors to do the heavy lifting. Ralph Fiennes’ Voldemort was enough to intimidate one of the main cast. Shirley Henderson, who plays teenage Moaning Myrtle, was surprisingly already a pro in the film industry due to one factor that set her apart from the rest of the kids in the movie (and we don’t mean because she was a ghost). Helena Bonham Carter took from a few sources for Bellatrix LeStrange. Jason Isaacs was out for a bit of revenge when he came up with the voice for Lucius. Gary Oldman really nailed the escaped prisoner aesthetic when it came to Sirius Black. Imelda Staunton was initially offended by the recommendation she would be perfect for the role of Delores Umbridge - given the horrible description of the character in the book. Emma Thompson was so buried under the layers of character it’s hard to even tell the professor her! Luna Lovegood is really just Evanna at half-speed. David Bradly’s charming personality is really lost in his performance. And Timothy Spall played a rat in human form. Or a human in rat form. He’s so far from the character in real life that it’s mind boggling. Give it a watch! Although, a listen is more important in this scenario.
