Elvis Presley - Love Letters - The Live Comparison Series - Volume Sixty Nine

Elvis included the song in his live shows from 30 April 1976 onward, predominantly due to David Briggs joining the TCB band on electric piano. Elvis would sing it during the band introductions after introducing Briggs, informing the crowd that "the first time David and I worked together, we did a song called 'Love Letters'." This, however, is a convenient half-truth by Elvis, as whilst David Briggs did play at that 1966 session for the first time, the piano that can be heard on the track is played by Elvis' regular session pianist at the time, the legendary Floyd Cramer. Briggs was, however, on point during the 1970 remake.
After David Briggs left the TCB at the end of Elvis’ first tour of 1977, he replaced “Love Letters” with "I Really Don't Want to Know" in March 1977.
