Pur Sang Bugatti Type 37 | Hand-Crafted Perfection
What if you could relive the sports car's zenith? In this episode, the first of two, Pur Sang's president of Anglo markets, John Bothwell, guides us through the heritage, craftsmanship, and experience of driving Pur Sang's automobiles.
For over two decades, Argentina's Pur Sang has provided customers with just that by the meticulous restoration and hand-crafted recreation of prewar history's finest automobiles. Every component of Pur Sang's machines--from the engine block to the body--is handmade at the firm's Villa Lola estate.
While we love Skylines, Mopars, and AMGs, we were struck by the purity behind Pur Sang's machines and the true level of motoring passion it takes to appreciate them. The hard truth is that whatever you're driving now--be it an old CRX or a new RS7--it's missing the mechanical soul that one finds in these cars. There's no on-board computation, drive-by-wire system, or speed governor: The horsepower and torque of these cars are raw, perhaps rawer than most gearheads can handle.
To Pur Sang's credit, we ran the hell out of that Bugatti, zipping from Newport Beach halfway to Lake Elsinore and back in unbearable heat and suicide-inducing traffic. That car didn't give us one single problem. Not one.
So enjoy the episode. We have a backstory and related article coming up on our blog. And tune in to Part 2 where we cover the early years of Alfa-Romeo's glory with Pur Sang's 8C Monza.
