2022 Nissan Frontier First Impression | Nissan's Fully Redesigned Pickup Truck | New Features & More
Carlos Lago with Edmunds brings you our first impressions of the redesigned 2022 Nissan Frontier. The Frontier is a midsize pickup truck and is Nissan's answer to the Toyota Tacoma, Chevy Colorado and Honda Ridgeline. While each of these trucks have been redesigned or restyled over the years, the Nissan Frontier has pretty much stayed the same for 15 years. But that all changes with the release of the 2022 Frontier. A new exterior, interior and an increase in overall length all work to give the Frontier a much-needed, and long-overdue, update.
On the outside, the Frontier gets snazzy new upright styling and grows in length. This bold restyling makes the 2022 Nissan Frontier feel more modern and helps it stand out when compared to the best midsize pickups on the road today. Under the hood, this Nissan offers a 310-horsepower V6 engine and nine-speed automatic transmission that was introduced for the 2020 model year Frontier. This is the only engine and transmission combination available for the 2022 Nissan Frontier so far.
Nowhere was it more apparent that a redesign was desperately needed than Frontier's interior.
Gone are the outdated style and cheap-looking materials. Now the cabin and center button layout look much more deserving of a modern midsize truck, with a steering wheel that looks similar to the one in the Titan full-size pickup. Watch our first impression review of the 2022 Nissan Frontier.
