Prince William sends royal fans wild as he teases exciting news 'coming later this week'

The Duke of Cambridge has posted a short video of himself flying a drone over the London skyline.

The footage shared on the Cambridges official Instagram account was accompanied by a caption which read: “@earthshotprize news coming later this week…”

The video lasts only a matter of seconds and was filmed over the shoulder of the Duke as he controls the aerial device.

William is wearing a light-blue shirt and is seen gazing into the picturesque distance as the drone flies above the trees.

The trailer clip has sent royal watchers into overdrive and many could not hide their excitement on social media.

On Instagram, one user wrote: “Can't wait!”.

A second added: “Super excited about this project.”

A third commented: “Can’t wait to hear more news from the Duke and Duchess!”.

Meanwhile, a fourth added: “Love this! Proud of our Royal Family.”

The Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge is currently running The Earthshot Prize, which is designed to incentivise change and repair the planet over the next decade.

Prince William and Sir David Attenborough formally launched the award in October 2020 and is dubbed the “most prestigious global environment prize in history”.

The project will see £50m awarded over the next 10 years in the search for environmental solutions.
