UC Davis One Health Institute PhD candidate Diego Montecino describes his work studying sarcoptic mange in endangered San Joaquin kit foxes.
The team behind the study is led by the California State University Stanislaus Endangered Species Recovery Program, California Living Museum (where the sick foxes are rehabilitated), California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and UC Davis faculty Janet Foley along with graduate students Jaime Rudd and Diego Montecino.
The study has received funding from the Morris Animal Foundation, Sacramento Zoo, San Joaquin Valley Chapter of the Wildlife Society, Kern County Wildlife Resouces Commission and USFW.
