Diesel engine run: Early American "pre-Gotham" Deezil, 2cc, circa 1948

I've been after an early version of the Deezil for some time and recently found one in reasonable shape. Most importantly, the guts were in excellent shape with very good compression, even though the mounting flanges were broken, the rear cover had brutal tool marks on it and the needle was missing. I discovered that the crankcase of this early version is interchangeable with the later and the lesser Deezil, which I had an example of. After swapping the main bearings and everything else between the two crankcases, I ended up with an early Deezil which runs well. I'm planning to build an American Ace for it, since it was one of the recommended airframes for the Deezil in the ads from the era.

Fuel #1: 35% ether, 35% castor oil, 28% lamp oil, 2% II (Amsoil)
Fuel #2: 40% ether, 30% 60 SAE mineral oil, 30% lamp oil, no II
Prop: Master Airscrew 10x6

Many thanks to Adrian Duncan whose web site is where I found the Deezil ads and the bulk the Deezil information shared in the video.
