"The Life Story of a Finn" (2016) director Tatiana Snisarenko

An old gentleman is sitting in an armchair. He has lived through almost the entire century; a Finnish aristocrat, a veteran of the Russo-Finnish war. After 50 years, he comes back to the place of fierce battles, but the war is not the only thing that connects him to these places... A certain man lived there, whom he did not know personally, but the destiny linked them forever.
The film explores the subject of spiritual heritage, family, faith and culture. It focuses on the life of a unique character – Mr. Paul Gundersen, a Finnish nobleman, born in the early twentieth century, who went through the trenches of the World War II as a young man, was an activist of the European Student Christian Association, a volunteer of the international reconciliation movement that had a great influence on business people and trade union leaders in many countries of Scandinavia, Europe and the Middle East. “When I think about war, the first thing that comes to my mind is the immaturity of people who provoke it, refusing to look for an alternative; but undoubtedly there always is an alternative... War is not inevitable, not inevitable at all." Paul Gundersen.
