SRI International is an independent, non-profit organization that performs a broad spectrum of research and evaluation for public and private organizations. SRI is involved is a wide range of research including but not limited to biosciences, artificial intelligence, information and computing sciences, and education research. I have been Principal Investigator or Co-PI of multiple federally funded large-scale school-based studies focused on helping children with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.

I started my career as a teacher in self-contained classrooms for students with behavior disorders over 30 years ago and has been working for and advocating on the behalf of children and families my whole career. I have been with SRI International for the last 15 years as an education researcher working on a range of research and evaluation projects.

I feel like working at a nonprofit research institute is a little different than working at a university or for-profit corporation. I enjoy it because it allows me to focus on the work that interests me and pursue research and evaluation grants and contracts that focus on helping students with emotional and behavior problems. There are no teaching requirements or other faculty responsibilities so I feel like I have more time to focus on what I like to do, research!
