Chrome plating is an electro-magnetic process that requires bare metal for the charged chromium particles to adhere to. We apply waterproof tape to all areas where the chrome is not desired, before lowering the part into the chrome bath. Bath time is determined by the thickness of chrome required — parts can spend several hours in the tank, sometimes even a couple of days!
