Ghanaian nationals opt for voluntary repatriation

Three hundred Ghanaian nationals living in South Africa have voluntarily presented themselves to the Ghana High Commission in Pretoria to be processed for repatriation to their home country on Wednesday.

The process follows growing tensions between some local communities and undocumented migrants in parts of South Africa.

Some Ghanaian nationals say they can no longer guarantee their safety following protests targeting undocumented migrants.

Meanwhile, the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ronald Lamola, says migration must take place within the confines of the law.

Lamola was speaking during the third day of the SADC Foreign Ministers' Retreat at Kruger National Park, in Mpumalanga.
