Angler Scout 8-120 - Sidecast - Nikko Sangyo, Japan, 1960s - Centrepin Coarse Fishing Reel

Angler Scout 8-120 - Made by Nikko Sangyo, Japan, circa 1960s - Sidecast Centrepin Coarse Fishing Reel.
Note: A sidecast centrepin is a centrepin fishing reel which, by rotating the drum 90°, enables casting much like a fixed spool (spinning) reel.
Here we have the largest and rarest of the Angler Scouts. This is not just a scaled up version of the next Scout down (the 8-100) it has some design unique to it, mostly in he way of beefing up for its intended role of freshwater specimen reel (pike etc). It is the only Scout with white handles and handles which have their own dedicated spindle/pillar not part of the main pillar structure. Being a large, sturdy reel may have led some anglers to try sea fishing with it but all the Scouts are only for freshwater as they are not corrosion proofed sufficiently for saltwater.
