Building a Raised Garden Bed
This is a very simple carpentry project I did recently building raised garden beds. It is recommended to build beds out of cedar, redwood, black locust or some other rot resistant wood. Treated lumber is not recommended, though the government says that the new preservatives are safe. Personally, I will take my chances with slugs eating the boards as opposed to me eating copper quaternary compounds, but that's just me. If I had to do it over, I would use tung oil as a preservative instead of spar urethane. I understand it is effective even with ground contact. However, we will see how long these last.
Another good building material for raised beds is masonry products, e.g. stone, brick, landscaping blocks, etc.
